Middlesbrough signed Paddy McNair from Sunderland in the summer.
Some Middlesbrough supporters have taken to Twitter to comment on the performance of Paddy McNair, as the Teesside club managed to salvage a 1-1 draw at home to promotion rivals Derby County.
McNair joined Boro in the summer from Sunderland after the Black Cats were relegated to League One, with The Sun reporting the fee to be in the region of £5 million.
The former Black Cats ace can play in several positions, but against Derby he was initially tasked with filling in as a right wing-back, before dropping deeper after manager Tony Pulis made a tactical switch.
With Derby in the lead, and Boro looking lacklustre, Pulis had seen enough early in the second half and replaced McNair, who struggled to make an impression in the game.
Boro fans weren’t impressed with McNair’s contribution, and expressed their disappointment on Twitter.

The Rams had chances to extend their lead against Boro, notably with David Nugent missing a gilt-edge chance in the second period, and they were made to pay as the hosts levelled via a comical Jayden Bogle own goal.
Derby boss Frank Lampard will be disappointed not to have won the game, but following a testing week he will be proud of the side’s performances and excellent return of seven points against three fellow promotion rivals.
As for Middlesbrough, a draw momentarily took them to the top of the Championship table, but there is work to be done – notably as their wing-back formation clearly hindered their performance in the opening half.
McNair will be hoping for another chance to impress in place of the injured Ryan Shotton, as with just two championship starts so far, the former Sunderland star hasn’t made the impact he would have wished since moving to the Riverside Stadium.
