Norwich City supporters have taken to Twitter to respond to Daniel Farke’s comments on being ‘yellow at heart’ when quizzed upon the increasing number of foreign managers in the English game.

In a bizarre rant in the past few days, Talksport presenter Ian Abrahams made headlines by claiming it would be bad for English football if the current Championship top two Norwich City and Leeds United get promoted.

His reason being that both clubs are managed by foreign coaches. Marcelo Bielsa is Argentine, while Norwich’s popular manager Daniel Farke is German, and he hasn’t been afraid to dip into the German market to sign players – with Marco Stiepermann, Tom Trybull and Moritz Leitner among them.

But in response, Farke told the club’s official website that despite his nationality, he is already among the longest-serving coaches in the second tier and added he feels right at home at Carrow Road.

“I’ve been here 18 months and I am one of the longest serving head coaches in the league already,” Farke said.

“I’ve got a German passport and perhaps my German education, but in the same way the fans sing ‘Jordan Rhodes is one of us’ I already feel one of us. My heart is yellow already and I don’t have the feeling that I am just here a few months and then going back to Germany. I feel at home,” Farke explained.

The former Borussia Dortmund coach’s comments have certainly gone down well with the Norwich supporters, with several taking to Twitter to highlight how it could be an iconic moment during his reign.

The Canaries have been superb this season under Farke’s guidance, winning 13 of their 21 Championship fixtures to date as they currently average the golden figure of over two points per game.

Norwich have strength in depth, top youngsters such as Todd Cantwell, Jamal Lewis and Max Aarons coming through, plus an impressive attacking style of football which has seen them score 18 goals in their last six outings.
