Bristol City have signed Andreas Weimann from Derby County.

Bristol City supporters have taken to social media site Twitter to praise the signing of Andreas Weimann following the forward’s switch from fellow Championship side Derby County.
The Robins have had an interesting summer so far having sold key players Aden Flint and Bobby Reid to Middlesbrough and Cardiff City respectively, therefore they are in a phase of rebuild.
The duo were key players during City’s run to the League Cup semi-finals last season and replacing them this summer will be manager Lee Johnson’s toughest task as he looks to mould a promotion-chasing side.
But in Andreas Weimann the club have made an astute signing for a potentially bargain price, and the club’s supporters have taken to Twitter to praise the deal following the player’s switch from Derby.
Weimann joined the Rams in 2015 from then Premier League side Aston Villa, and the forward was tasked with providing the east Midlands club both goals and assists in their bid for automatic promotion.

But the Austria international struggled to make an immediate impact as he was often played out of position, though his willingness to work hard and press off the ball made him a popular figure among the Derby fans.
Weimann is predominantly a centre-forward and will provide a bigger goal threat through the middle, though he is versatile and can play in a wide role as well as a wingback role as proven last season.

Bristol City fans will appreciate how hard he works for the cause, and if he can manage to find the net regularly at Ashton Gate then they may see him as an excellent replacement for the impressive Reid.
At 26, he still has plenty of time on his side to once again play Premier League football and with a few more quality signings there is no reason why he can’t do just that with his new club.
