Bristol City beat Ipswich Town 3-2 at Portman Road.

Lee Johnson, manager of Bristol City looks on before the Sky Bet Championship match between Fulham and Bristol City at Craven Cottage on October 31, 2017 in London, England.

Bristol City manager Lee Johnson believes Ipswich Town will stay up this season despite their lowly position, as he feels the Tractor Boys have a lot of quality in their ranks, as reported by the Bristol Post.

“Listen, they’re an unbelievable side. I’m telling you: they will get out of trouble. They are a decent side – they need a couple of January additions but they know that. They have a lot of energy and a lot of quality in that side,” Johnson explained.

Bristol City condemned Ipswich to another defeat at Portman Road as they twice came from behind to record a 3-2 victory, leaving Paul Lambert’s side rooted to the bottom of the Championship table.

The Tractor Boys are paying the price for selling off key players in the summer, such as Martyn Waghorn and Joe Garner, who contributed to 26 goals last season, and not adequately replacing them.

The gamble to appoint Paul Hurst from Shrewsbury Town following Mick McCarthy’s exit failed, with the former League One boss managing just one win in 15 league games, resulting in his sacking.

Despite improved performances under new manager Paul Lambert, Ipswich have continued to struggle to put points on the board, with two draws and two defeats since his arrival.

Robins boss Johnson may feel Ipswich have enough to steer clear of survival, but his side came into the clash having lost their last four straight games, and it was another opportunity squandered for the Suffolk Side to pick up all three points.

Ipswich have now gone 12 home games without victory, and defeat leaves them six points adrift at the bottom of the table. If they are going to pull themselves out of it, they desperately need results and quickly.
