Bolton Wanderers signed Jonathan Grounds on loan from Birmingham City.

According to The Sun on Sunday (print edition, page 63, January 06 2019), Bolton Wanderers are eyeing a loan deal for Crystal Palace man Pape Souare on loan for the rest of the season.
The report claims the Trotters have already made an approach for the Palace left-back, placing doubts over the future of on-loan Birmingham City man Jonathan Grounds who is currently back-up at left-back.
A report in the Birmingham Mail claims Aston Villa and Bolton were keen on Souare in the summer, but Bolton instead opted to bring in Jonathan Grounds on loan to compete with Andrew Taylor.
Taylor’s injury earlier in the campaign offered Grounds the chance to establish himself in the first-team, but a string of disappointing performances saw him dropped from first-team duties for over two months.
Grounds has made nine Championship starts with Bolton, and amazingly they’ve only picked up one win in those nine games and scored a painfully low four goals. His last start came in the 6-0 defeat at Hull City.

With Bolton reportedly revitalising their interest in Souare, it would suggest that Grounds hasn’t done enough to convince manager Phil Parkinson and his future at the club is now in question.
The 30-year-old signed a season-long loan deal at Bolton, but his Birmingham contract doesn’t expire until 2020. Souare’s arrival could leave him in limbo, with neither club seeing Grounds as a long-term option.
