Bolton Wanderers manager Phil Parkinson has been linked with the vacant Reading post.
Bolton Wanderers manager Phil Parkinson has brushed off reports linking him to the Reading job by saying his main focus is on the weekend clash with league leaders Norwich City, as reported by the Bolton News.
“I literally only just found out about it, and it’s a shame that Paul is no longer the manager but I am concentrating on Bolton Wanderers and the weekend,” he explained.
Parkinson’s name has been mentioned as an option for the vacant Reading job after the Royals parted company with former manager Paul Clement, with the club struggling near the bottom of the Championship.
The current Bolton boss is a popular figure at Reading, having made nearly 400 appearances for the club as a player in a spell stretching over a decade.
Parkinson’s work at Bolton would not have gone unnoticed at the Madejski Stadium, with the 51-year-old guiding the club back up from League One and keeping them in the Championship despite working against financial restrictions.
Now, though, the Trotters sit in the relegation zone and, with just one win in their last 14 league games, the Bolton supporters may be starting to question his ability, with the vacant Reading job potentially tempting.
Parkinson and his assistant Steve Parkin both signed new deals at Bolton in 2017 after previously being on 12-month rolling contracts, but the length of those deals was not disclosed.
