Tommy Elphick’s contract with Aston Villa expires this summer.

Aston Villa defender Tommy Elphick has suggested his focus is 100% on getting the club promoted rather than his own contract situation with his current deal set to expire this summer, the Guardian report.
“The focus is totally on trying to get hold of a couple of teams above us and getting into that top six as quick as possible,” the defender told the Guardian.
“Regardless of what situation you are in at the club, whether you have six months left on your contract or three years, we all realise that if we’re winning games and looking towards the top six then it is better for everyone.”
Elphick returned to Villa during the January transfer window having spent the previous few months out on loan at fellow Championship side Hull City.
The experienced centre-back had fallen out of favour under former manager Steve Bruce, but the arrival of Dean Smith coupled with several injuries at the back prompted his return last month.
Elphick has since made six starts for Villa, with his last two performances against Ipswich Town and Reading standing out as particularly impressive.

The 31-year-old’s contract, however, expires in the summer and his future at the club is unknown with Smith likely to focus on strengthening the side’s defence regardless of what division Villa are in next season.
The Midlands side have struggled for form of late after winning five of Smith’s first eight games in charge. They’ve won just twice in their last 11 games in all competitions, leaving them in ninth position in the Championship table and four points adrift of the playoffs.
