The former Aston Villa man has been a real hit for the Robins since his reported £2 million move (Daily Star) from Derby County this summer, scoring an impressive five goals in his opening five Championship matches.
Ironically, Weimann has already scored the same amount of goals for Bristol City this term as he managed for Derby in 40 league games last season – but the biggest difference is where he is now being played.
Weimann has on several occasions claimed his best position is at centre-forward, yet Derby persistently played him in a wide role, while Bristol City boss Lee Johnson has played him down the middle.
Derby County splashed out around £8 million bringing strikers Martyn Waghorn (Daily Mail) and Jack Marriott (Sky sports) to Pride Park, yet both have yet to make an impression – as David Nugent has so far gotten the nod upfront.
With Weimann is such impressive form – not only scoring goals but also topping the Championship charts in terms of shots per game – it begs the question why Derby failed to spot the player’s talent as a number 9.
