Blackburn Rovers boss Tony Mowbray is still a popular figure among Middlesbrough fans.

Middlesbrough supporters have taken to Twitter to call for a change with Blackburn Rovers boss Tony Mowbray a popular choice having previously managed at the Riverside Stadium.

Boro supporters are seemingly growing tired of Tony Pulis’ playing style and their sudden drop off in form, culminating in a Carabao Cup quarter-final home defeat to Burton Albion, has tipped some over the edge.

The Teesside club have dropped off the pace in the Championship automatic promotion race as a run of just two wins in nine games sees them trail Norwich City in second place by eight points.

Following Tuesday night’s embarrassing defeat to Burton, the calls for Pulis’ exit have grown and Mowbray is one potential option several supporters would like to see come back to the club.

Mowbray spent nine years as a player at Middlesbrough during the 80s, captaining the side at just 22 years of age and making over 300 league appearances for the club.

But his managerial stint at the Riverside wasn’t exactly a roaring success, despite taking over the club in the relegation zone and leading them to a 12th place finish in his first season and a 7th place finish a year later.

Mowbray is currently in charge of Championship opponents Blackburn Rovers, and he seems to be enjoying his role at Ewood Park having guided the club back up to the second tier following a year in League One.

The former defender recently signed a new contract at Rovers and with the Lancashire club sitting just five points shy of the playoffs, he perhaps wouldn’t even be a realistic option right now if Boro decided to dismiss Pulis.
