Nottingham Forest drew 0-0 at Swansea City.
Nottingham Forest right-back Saidy Janko was arguably the best player on the pitch against Swansea City as he enjoyed a fantastic debut for the club following his loan move from Portuguese side Porto.
The 22-year-old joined Aitor Karanka’s side on the final day of the loan window, with many supporters looking forward to seeing him in action after being unconvinced by fellow right-back Tendayi Darikwa.
Janko has had a taste of British football previously as he enjoyed a two-year spell at Scottish Premiership champions Celtic while also having a loan spell at League One club Barnsley.
But it wasn’t until last season at St Etienne where he finally broke through and experienced a run of first-team games, and his impressive performances prompted Porto to sign him in the summer.
Janko, a Switzerland under-21 international, has an abundance of potential and showed exactly why Porto opted to sign him on a four-year deal with a terrific debut in Forest colours.
Against former Premier League opposition Swansea, Janko was a real standout as he recorded a 93% pass-accuracy rate, five tackles and three key passes – more than any other player on the pitch (Whoscored).
Despite Forest extending their winless run to four Championship games, there were plenty of positives for the Reds as they largely dominated the Swans and could count themselves a little unlucky not to win.
Janko’s physicality and energy provides extra protection in defence, while he also displayed an ability to link play in the final third and offer Karanka’s men a new attacking outlet they previously didn’t have.
