Bolton Wanderers released Adam Le Fondre in the summer.

Bolton Wanderers’ decision to release striker Adam Le Fondre in the summer now appears to be a poor one, with the club struggling for goals while their former striker is in fine form at his new club.
Le Fondre initially joined Bolton from Cardiff City on a season-long loan deal in the summer of 2016, and he helped Phil Parkinson’s side secure promotion back to the Championship from League One.
He then signed a two-year deal at Bolton, but he mutually left the club after just one season, having netted seven times in 35 league games last term as the Lancashire club avoided relegation on the final day.
Bolton were looking to push on this season and, after four matches, some supporters felt a top-half finish could be on the cards as they recorded three wins including an away victory at West Bromwich Albion.

Only one win their last 13, however, has seen the Trotters slip down the table and they now lie in 23rd position, having scored just 11 goals all season and a paltry two in their last ten games.
Le Fondre, on the other hand, has netted seven times in eight games for new club Sydney FC in Australia, and some Bolton fans feel the 31-year-old could have been an asset to their side now.
Bolton are currently relying on Clayton Donaldson to play the lone forward role, with the likes of Will Buckley and Sammy Ameobi playing off him, but those two are not getting close enough to the big centre-forward.
Le Fondre would have been an ideal man to play off of Donaldson, similar to how Millwall line up with Lee Gregory and Steve Morison, but right now Bolton do not have the personnel to make their direct style work.
