Wolverhampton Wanderers are on the lookout for a new manager.
Wolves interim manager Rob Edwards
Wolverhampton Wanderers caretaker boss Rob Edwards says he hasn’t applied for the job full-time despite showing an interest in moving in to management, the club’s official website report.
Wolves are currently on the lookout for a new manager after sacking Italian Walter Zenga following a run of just four Championship victories in 14 matches.
The Midlands side have ambitions of establishing themselves as a Premier League club, but in the meantime they need to get back on track in the Championship after going six games without a win.
Rob Edwards – Wolves in action
Wolves coach Rob Edwards, 33, is currently in charge of first-team affairs and the Welshman has expressed his desire to move into management.
But when asked if he has applied for the job, Edwards admitted to the club’s official website: “I haven’t applied. They know what I want to do long-term (management).”
“I’ve been open about that and at some stage it’s something I definitely want to do.”
“If it’s this club – fantastic. It would be amazing. But saying that, they know also that I want to do whatever is best for the club. And they’re going to pick whoever is right for the club.”
Paul Lambert manager of Blackburn Rovers
Reports from the BBC suggest that former Norwich City and Blackburn Rovers manager Paul Lambert is set to takeover, though no confirmation will be made until after this weekend’s clash with Derby County.
Lambert has been out of work since resigning from Blackburn at the end of last season, and Wolves may see him as an ideal short-term option after the gamble on Walter Zenga failed to pay off.
Wolves host a Derby side who have also changed managers already this term, replacing Nigel Pearson with Steve McClaren.
