Germany’s Mario Gotze was clinical against Italy this week.
Bayern Munich star Mario Gotze was in clinical form on Tuesday night as he contributed greatly during reigning world champions Germany’s 4-1 win over Italy.
It has been a difficult season for the 2014 World Cup winner, with just eight Bundesliga appearances and two further games in the Champions League to his name at the Allianz Arena.
Bayern boss Pep Guardiola seemingly is not a fan of the 23-year-old, and their frosty relationship has been well-documented over the campaign with speculation surrounding the player’s future.
As shown in a number of recent reports such as the Mirror, Liverpool are keen on the player and there are fears in Bavaria that the talented star wants to be reunited with Anfield boss Jurgen Klopp.
Acquiring Gotze certainly will not come cheap for the Reds, yet if they needed any evidence of his undoubted ability then his performance against Italy showed exactly what he is capable of.

As shown by the table above, the former Borussia Dortmund man was utterly clinical as he posted a 100% pass-accuracy rate and netted one goal in just 60 minutes of action.
Gotze played as a somewhat fake number nine, with Thomas Muller and Julian Draxler positioned either side.
While not exactly his most comfortable position, it proved how the play-maker has the ability to feature in a number of roles in the final third and that is exactly the sort of player Liverpool boss Klopp will want.
With Roberto Firmino, Adam Lallana and Philippe Coutinho interchanging, adding another option in the form of Gotze would give the Reds an intriguing front-line and one that would strike fear into their opponents.
