Derby County are currently in the hunt for a place in the Championship’s top six, with the hope of navigating themselves through the play-offs and back to the Premier League.

It has been a decade since the Rams last tasted Premier League football; that ill-fated campaign where they managed just one league win and a record low 11 points from 38 matches.

It is a record that Derby wish to erase from memory altogether, and that will only happen once the club manage to get back in to England’s top flight and consolidate their position for a good few years.

During the past decade it has not been for lack of trying that has seen Derby fall short, but perhaps a lack of planning, awareness and intelligence both on and off the pitch at crucial moments.
