Everton are yet to find a permanent solution between the sticks, so here are three options that could provide it, including two from fellow Premier League clubs Southampton and Sunderland:
Everton manager Ronaldo Koeman
Ronald Koeman is almost certain to make a new goalkeeper one of his main summer targets for Everton with neither Joel Robles or Maarten Stekelenburg having managed to make the number one jersey theirs this season.
Here are three stoppers that the Dutchman is rumoured to have his eye on and could well be a good option to make the move to Merseyside:
Fraser Forster
According to the Daily Mail, Koeman may well raid his former club Southampton, where Forster was the undisputed first choice between the sticks after signing from Celtic the same summer the 54-year-old became manager.
Only six Premier League teams have conceded fewer goals than Southampton this season, with the 29-year-old having played all 30 of their league matches so far this term.
Sunderland’s Jordan Pickford
Jordan Pickford
Another English ‘keeper now, although someone who is less established than Forster in the top tier. Pickford had made only made two top flight appearances for Sunderland before this term.
However, his breakthrough to become first choice has been one of the few positives for Sunderland this campaign, and at 23 he looks to have a bright future ahead of him – possibly why the Sun says Everton are one of a number of clubs targeting him.
Manchester United’s Juan Mata shoots wide under pressure from St Etienne’s Stephane Ruffier
Stephane Ruffier
Moving away from the Premier League now, the Daily Star claims that Everton are keeping tabs on Saint-Etienne ‘keeper Ruffier.
The 30-year-old has been building a stellar reputation for himself over the past few seasons and has helped Les Verts to the best defensive record in Ligue 1 in 2016/17.
