Speculation is rife that Kyle Walker will be leaving Tottenham Hotspur this summer, with the Independent reporting that the right-back had a row with manager Mauricio Pochettino over not selecting him.

Having been a key part of Spurs’ success over the past two seasons there will be plenty of potential suitors for Walker, but what would be the best move for the 26-year-old from those interested?

Barcelona

Reported by the Sun, this would certainly make for an interesting move and England fans could well be hoping it’s the one that happens, with many believing the national team is being held back because English players don’t go abroad.

As for Barca, they have failed to find a permanent replacement for Dani Alves following his 2016 exit from the Nou Camp and Walker’s marauding runs forward could actually make him the ideal man for the job.

This switch, as reported by the Manchester Evening News, probably makes the most sense on the face of it, with Pep Guardiola desperate for defensive reinforcement and Walker able to stay in the Premier League.

The 26-year-old is a Guardiola-type player as well, with the Spaniard liking his full-backs to get forward and operate almost as midfielders – something he has struggled to get an aging Pablo Zabaleta to achieve.

The London Evening Standard say Tottenham have told Manchester United it will cost £35m to sign Walker, with the Red Devils one of the few clubs that could actually meet that valuation.

Yet should Jose Mourinho been concentrating on other areas with Antonio Valencia having converted to be one of the best right-backs in the country and United surely having bigger problems to address elsewhere on the pitch?
