Steve Bruce was tipped for the sack earlier in August but now the Aston Villa boss is the Championship’s in-form manager.

No other team is in better form than Aston Villa over the last five Championship matches, with Steve Bruce’s men the only side in the division to have won all five.
Their latest came courtesy of a 90th-minute winner from Robert Snodgrass at Sheffield United, completing an impressive turnaround in form since losing 2-1 to Brentford on Boxing Day.

It is a run that means Villa could move into the automatic promotion spots at the weekend should they beat bottom-placed Burton Albion at home and Derby County fail to win against the Bees.
Back on August 17 the Daily Star claimed that Bruce was three matches from being sacked after drawing one and losing two of his opening three league games.

Dismissing the 57-year-old now seems highly unlikely, as the former defender pushes for his fifth promotion from the second tier of English football during an impressive managerial career.
Patience from the Villa hierarchy looks to have well and truly paid off and, if they can move into the top two this weekend, the Birmingham club will finally be in the position many predicted for them before the season began.
