Rangers central defender Connor Goldson gave his take on talkSPORT (11:37am, October 19, 2020) on Celtic team news getting leaked before the Old Firm derby at the weekend.
Steven Gerrard’s side got the better of Celtic 2-0 away from home at Celtic Park in the Scottish Premiership on Saturday afternoon.
Goldson – who cost Rangers £3 million in transfer fees when they signed him from Premier League club Brighton and Hove Albion in the summer of 2018, as reported by Sky Sports – scored both the goals for the Gers, one in the first half and the other in the second period.
As reported by The Daily Record, the Celtic starting lineup was all over social media on Friday night and Saturday morning.
Goldson said on talkSPORT (11:37am, October 19, 2020) when asked about Celtic team leak: “No, truthfully, we went into the game even in a pre-match meeting we thought Jullian would play, we thought Edouard would play.
“We didn’t really believe it, we obviously know you can never trust anything that comes out. One day someone’s injured, and the next day they are playing.”
Scottish Premiership title race
Rangers were the better team in the Old Firm derby and deservedly bagged all three points.
Gerrard’s team are now four points clear of second-placed Celtic at the top of the table, but the Hoops do have a game in hand.
It is only October and the title race is far from over, but the win for Rangers will boost their confidence and give them more belief.
