Fabrizio Romano has said that Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta and the club’s board trust Emile Smith Rowe.

The Italian journalist has written in his CaughtOffSide column today (7:15am, April 30, 2023) that Arsenal trust the 22-year-old attacking midfielder, both for now and for the future.

Romano has added that the Gunners will speak to the England international, who can also operate as a winger, at the end of the season.

The Sun have reported that Smith Rowe is unhappy at his lack of regular playing time at Arsenal at the moment.

The Arsenal no. 10 has made 10 substitute appearances in the Premier League, one substitute appearance in the UEFA Europa League and one substitute appearance in the FA Cup this season.

There is interest in Smith Rowe from Aston Villa.

Fabrizio Romano on Arsenal star Emile Smith Rowe

Romano wrote: “Despite some speculation over his future, I’m sure Arsenal trust Emile Smith Rowe for present and future. Mikel Arteta and people in the board always trusted Emile.

“He’s not playing much at the moment, but it is also fair to say that he returned after an injury and the starting XI is very clear this season, so it’s not easy to break into the team in these conditions. I’m sure parties will speak at the end of the season to decide on the next steps, for sure.”

HITC Verdict: Gunners won’t sell Smith Rowe

In our view, Arsenal are not going to sell Emile Smith Rowe in the summer transfer window.

Yes, the Gunners are doing well now without the playmaker featuring heavily, but Arsenal will have UEFA Champions League football next season and will also aim to win the Premier League title.

And they need players like Smith Rowe as options.

Moreover, Smith Rowe has come through the Arsenal academy system.

And he is only 22.

Let us not also forget that Smith Rowe, described as “a huge talent” by Arteta on Arsenal’s official website in December 2023 has had injury problems this season.
