For some weeks now, ex-Aston Villa striker Gabby Agbonlahor and the Leeds United faithful have been engaging in some friendly banter on social media.

Well, with Agbonlahor being a co-commentator for talkSPORT during Leeds United’s 4-1 defeat at Crystal Palace yesterday, he sent a cryptic tweet which got the Aston Villa supporters talking.

Agbonlahor posted the following Twitter message moments after the full-time whistle blew at Selhurst Park.

A selection of Villa fans questioned, and seemingly knew, what their former striker was implying even though he didn’t reference the game itself –

But some even joked as to whether he was making reference to Donald Trump given the recent presidential elections across the pond and that fact that the Solihull-born footballer was tweeting about the matter this week.

A couple of weeks ago, Agbonlahor was labelling Leeds a ‘myth’ and those comments came to bite him back when Patrick Bamford hit a hat-trick at Villa Park.

Leeds United’s official Twitter account reminded Agbonlahor of his comments at the full-time whistle.

But it seems jabs are still being thrown in this mini, yet enjoyable rivalry, that has grown between two of English football’s great clubs in Leeds and Villa.

It’s fair to say the Villa fans enjoyed Agbonlahor’s sly jab at those at Elland Road and but it needs to be remembered that Leeds fans will also have their laugh once again.
