Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane has told Twitch TV that Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are the two greatest players he has ever played against.
Kane and Tottenham took on Messi’s Barcelona side twice in the 2018 edition of the Champions League, and they also took on Cristiano Ronaldo’s Real Madrid side the year before.
Spurs and Kane never got the better of Barca, but they did beat Madrid 3-1 back in 2017 in one of the most memorable European results in Tottenham’s recent memory.
And when asked for the best player he has played against by PieFace last night, Kane said: “I have been lucky enough to play against Ronaldo and Messi, so everyone knows how good those two are.
“Between them it’s a big debate who’s better, but it’s been a honour to play against both of them. They are truly amazing players, the standards they have set over the years and continue to set into their mid 30’s are remarkable.”
Kane’s answer hardly comes as a surprise – given the respect that Messi and Ronaldo command around the footballing world.

Kane’s former boss at Tottenham, Jose Mourinho, of course was able to get the best out of Ronaldo during his time in charge of Madrid.
Kane later went on to say that if he had to pick between the pair, he would probably edge towards Messi – although he did stress he had great admiration for Ronaldo too.
Kane is actually behind both Messi and Ronaldo for league goals this season, despite scoring on 21 occasions for Tottenham and leading the Premier League’s goalscoring charts.
