Tottenham Hotspur fans are delighted to hear that Antonio Conte is continuing to work his players very hard in training, as he begins to settle in with the club.
What’s the story?
Just last Sunday, Tottenham’s players could have been forgiven for thinking they might be given some time off.
Spurs had travelled to Burnley to play at Turf Moor, only for their game to get cancelled an hour before kick-off.
Conte still wasn’t prepared to simply write the day off as a wasted one, though.
The Italian boss had his team in the training pitches back at Hotspur Way in the afternoon, according to Paul Robinson’s comments on Sky Sports.
“I am led to believe that the Spurs team flew home and they trained on that afternoon, so that’s the level of commitment the manager is asking and wanting from these players,” he said.
And Spurs fans think Conte continues to show exactly the sort of work ethic that will be needed to turn their fortunes around.
Demanding schedule
Conte has already spoken about Tottenham’s level not being high enough to meet his own ambitions right now.
But he is at least clearly trying to change things on the training ground.
There have already been reports of just how much the intensity has increased at Hotspur Way since Conte’s arrival and Sergio Reguilon has spoken of how hard Tottenham’s players are working.
On the pitch, there have been signs of encouragement too – although their recent defeat to NS Mura was a real disappointment.
If Tottenham can beat Brentford later this evening they can close the gap on the top four though, and they have games in hand over many of their rivals now.
