Troy Parrott has been making headlines with his performances for Ireland, and it is no surprise that clubs are starting to circle ahead of January. Leeds United are among those keeping an eye on the situation.

Back in the summer, Leeds chose not to pursue Parrott. The £25m asking price was too high, so they moved on and ended up signing Dominic Calvert-Lewin on a free transfer instead.

Since then, Parrott has stayed with AZ Alkmaar in the Eredivisie. This season, though, he has hit another level entirely, scoring 14 goals in 13 matches across domestic and European competitions.

During the November international break, Ireland faced a huge challenge: they needed wins over both Portugal and Hungary to reach a World Cup play-off spot. Somehow, they delivered exactly that.

Parrott scored twice in a stunning 2-0 win against Portugal before bagging a hat-trick – including a stoppage-time winner – in Sunday night’s 3-2 victory over Hungary.

LeedsUnited.News has reported that Leeds had scouts present when Parrott scored twice against Portugal for Ireland, even though they had passed on signing him during the previous window.

News from Holland suggested Leeds still kept tabs on him. Now, TeamTalk revealed where Parrott stands regarding a potential return to England.

The report indicates that while Parrott would consider a January move back to England, he is likely to be selective given many of the interested clubs are battling near the bottom of the table.

Mixed signals on Troy Parrott’s valuation ahead of potential Leeds move

Parrott’s excellent form for Ireland and strong showings for AZ reportedly led to an increase in his potential transfer fee, according to initial reports from the Netherlands, pushing it significantly higher than the £25 million quoted over the summer.

But more recent updates, again from Dutch sources, indicate a different story. According to those reports, the 23-year-old striker might now be available for as little as £16m.

A crucial decision looms for Leeds: should they sign Parrott in January? Doing so would push them beyond the PSR limit but would also boost their bid to stay in the Premier League.

Alternatively, they could stand firm and trust the current squad to pull the club out of relegation trouble. Given Leeds’ pursuit of Harry Wilson, a signing seems more likely.
