Troy Parrott reacts to what Tottenham manager said about him

Troy Parrott was officially promoted by Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino.

Troy Parrott has revealed that he was indifferent to Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino revealing that he was his second-choice striker this season.

Parrott tore up the youth scene at Spurs last term to establish himself as one of the brightest young talents at Hotspur Way.

The Irish Under-21 international, who scored a match-winning goal against Armenia on Friday, also impressed on Tottenham’s pre-season tour, posting some exciting performances against the likes of Juventus.

Pochettino did not sign an out-and-out striker to cover Harry Kane after losing Vincent Janssen and Fernando Llorente during the summer, prompting the Argentine manager to promote Parrott [The Daily Mail]

The 17-year-old is yet to make his competitive Tottenham debut, but it can’t be far away after Pochettino’s admission.

But Parrott himself has admitted that he wasn’t blown away by confirmation that he was Kane’s covering striker, telling The 42 when asked if it filled him with confidence: “It does and it doesn’t.

“I don’t take notice of most of that stuff. I just keep trying to do what I can do in training and [trying to] get better.”
