Tottenham Hotspur have snapped up striker Kion Etete.

Tottenham Hotspur may not have made a big-name signing yet, but they have at least made a new addition since their Champions League final defeat.

Spurs confirmed on Friday that Notts County striker Kion Etete has joined the club, having impressed in a couple of trial spells with the club.

Etete, 17, has emerged as a top young talent with the Magpies, and Spurs have swooped in to sign him, adding another talented attacker to Mauricio Pochettino’s ranks.

He’ll now join the Tottenham Under-18’s, and some may well wonder whether the move will impact Troy Parrott’s development under Pochettino.

Parrott has already trained with the Spurs first team, with the Irishman touted for a huge future with the club having hit 19 goals in 27 games in all competitions this past season.

By adding another 17-year-old hitman in Etete, Spurs now have two top young strikers to develop, and having quality cover for Parrott may open up the chance to jump up to the first team at times.

Even if only as the third or fourth-choice striker, Parrott may have a pathway to ascending beyond the Spurs youth ranks with Etete now in the picture – and whilst Spurs fans will be encouraged about both players, the idea of Parrott being freed up to play some cup games next season will be exciting.
