The Tottenham Hotspur academy ace has been named by Mauricio Pochettino in Spurs’ squad for the group stages.

Tottenham Hotspur prodigy Troy Parrott has spoken following his superb debut for Republic of Ireland Under-21s as they took on Armenia in a qualifier for the European Championships in 2021.
The 17-year-old Spurs striker missed his nation’s opening game of their qualification campaign in March – the win over Luxembourg – but was named in the starting XI for Friday’s clash at the Tallaght Stadium in Dublin.
Parrott’s stock has been rising steadily over the past few months, culminating in him being named by Mauricio Pochettino in Tottenham’s Champions League squad for the group stages earlier this week.
Just half an hour into his debut at U21 level he got himself a maiden goal, finishing off a slick team move as Brighton winger Aaron Connolly exploited some poor defending to provide the assist for Parrott’s delayed run into the box and subsequent strike.

Speaking after the 1-0 win, Parrott’s comments regarding his upward trajectory bode very well for Tottenham and fans in the coming months and beyond, suggesting he is in a great place, high on confidence, eager to strike while the iron’s hot and make the most of his current purple patch – suggesting much, much more to come.
When asked about his inclusion in the Spurs squad for the upcoming Champions League campaign, Parrott told Eir Sport, as quoted by Football London: “I feel like I’m on a good run at the moment and I just want to keep going. I’m loving football at the moment.”
The result leaves Stephen Kenny’s ROI U21s top of Euro 2021 qualifying Group One having won their opening two fixtures, and up next for them is Sweden in Kalmar on Tuesday.
