According to The Daily Mail, West Bromwich Albion are interested in signing Troy Deeney from Watford in the summer transfer window.

It has been reported that West Brom are prepared to pay Deeney a weekly salary of £100,000 in order to tempt him to The Hawthorns.

Deeney is a good striker and has proved himself in the Premier League, but a weekly salary of £100,000 is a bit too much.

In 37 Premier League appearances for Watford this past season, the 28-year-old scored 10 goals and provided four assists.

During the 2015-16 campaign, the former Walsall striker scored 13 goals and created 56 chances in 38 league matches for the Hornets.

Given that Watford are largely an average side, Deeney’s goal-tally is not bad. However, the Englishman is not good enough to merit £100,000-a-week salary.

According to The Times, Deeney is Watford’s top earner at the moment with £50,000-a-week salary. Has the striker improved or done enough in the Premier League to be now worth double that?

West Brom may have lofty ambitions and the money to attract established Premier League player, but they would be wasting a lot of money if they sign Deeney for £100,000 a week
