Arsenal’s hunt for a new winger appears to be over.
Indeed, Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Leandro Trossard is on his way to the Emirates, and given that Brighton’s asking price for this player has been around £25m this month, this could be a real bargain deal.
The Gunners have saved an absolute fortune on this deal after originally committing to spending £80m on Mykhaylo Mudryk before Chelsea gazumped their move.
After signing Trossard, Arsenal should have tens of millions of pounds left over to do whatever they want.
Many will argue that the Gunners should go out and spend the remainder of that cash on another big-name player – perhaps a midfielder or a new left-footed defender.
However, in our view, some of that money could be used for something much more important – wage bumps for both Bukayo Saka and William Saliba.

Arsenal are currently in discussions with their two young stars about contract renewals, and the money saved on the Mudyrk deal could easily be put aside to give both players exactly what they want in terms of wages for new long-term deals.
Make no mistake about it, Saka and Saliba are two of the most important players at Arsenal, and with both players just being 21 years old, the Gunners need to make sure that they are committed to life at the Emirates for the foreseeable future.
How do you do that? You give them long contracts on big wages.
Of course, handing out bumper deals can be risky, but there may not be two safer bets in the Premier League right now than Saka and Saliba. These two look destined for the very top of world football, and Arsenal need to do all they can to keep them.
With Arsenal saving so much money on the Trossard deal, they should use the money they’ve saved to give Saliba and Saka exactly what they want.
