Tristan Muyumba is reportedly being primed to become a key player for Atlanta United, with the midfielder’s move to France being made official last week.
According to the Athletic, the former EA Guingamp star is expected to be a ‘key starter’ for Gonzalo Pineda in the Five Stripes squad, the early expectation being that Muyumba will replace Franco Ibarra in the XI after the Argentine’s shock loan move to Toronto FC.
With the 22-year-old midfielder’s trade to the Canadian giants taking over headlines this weekend, it’s easy to forget that Atlanta will have a player soon coming in to replace Ibarra. And this update seems to suggest that franchise insiders are confident in Muyumba’s qualities.

The Frenchman has spent the majority of his career playing in France, and whilst a 26-year-old from a second-tier European side might not instill confidence into some supporters, Atlanta having belief in Muyumba should be a convincing enough sign of what’s to come.
Indeed, Pineda has proven his worth as a manager at Atlanta as well as a coach. And whilst losing Ibarra was something no party wanted, the 40-year-old has what it takes to fill that void in the squad with the arrival of Muyumba.
Muyumba could flourish for Atlanta under Pineda

Ligue 2 to MLS might raise some eyebrows, but with Atlanta pushing hard to bring Muyumba to Georgia this summer, there’s every chance that the midfielder will be a success for at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium, especially under a coach like Pineda.
As we know, the Atlanta figurehead has already improved numerous players at the club, and Muyumba could be the next name to join the list once Pineda has got his hands on his new recruit and the midfielder is out training every day with the rest of the team.
