Brighton and Hove Albion, Aston Villa and Wolverhampton Wanderers are all tracking former York City youngster Jamie Hopcutt following his Europa League heroics, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.

Hopcutt enhanced his growing reputation with a stunning solo goal in Ostersund’s shock 2-0 win over Turkish giants Galatasaray in Europa League qualifying on Thursday.

Hopcutt helped Ostersund win the Swedish Cup final with a shock victory over Norrkoping in April to book their place in the Europa League.

The 25-year-old has been earning rave reviews in Sweden this year and his performance against Galatasaray has alerted clubs all across Europe to his talents.

The attacking midfielder has scored five goals in eight Allsvenskan this season and he has established himself as one of the best players in the Swedish top-flight.

Hopcutt joined Ostersund in 2012, initially on a three-month deal after a successful trial and he has gone on to score 39 goals and contribute 14 assists in 109 games for the club.

Hopcutt’s progress at Ostersund has not gone unnoticed among clubs in England and the player is thought to be keen on trying his luck again in his homeland.

Premier League new boys Brighton and Championship duo Aston Villa and Wolves are set to keep tabs on Hopcutt with the player available for a fee in the region £1.5million.
