Dalby was part of the Watford squad beaten at Everton on Tuesday – three months after leaving Leeds United.

Some of Sam Dalby’s former Leeds United teammates are congratulating the striker after he was named in a Watford matchday squad for the very first time.

Watford paid Leeds an undisclosed fee to sign Dalby on a two-year contract in the summer transfer window, after he failed to break into the Whites’ first-team.

The 19-year-old has also had to bide his time at Vicarage Road, but finally saw some light at the end of the tunnel on Tuesday.

He was part of the 18-man squad taken to Everton by the Watford manager Quique Sanchez Flores – although he never actually made it on to the pitch.

Nevertheless, Dalby revealed on Instagram that he was ‘buzzing’ to be involved.

And a trio of players he worked with at Leeds are among those who have posted responses.

Of the above, only Bryce Hosannah remains on Leeds’ books, with Alex Wollerton and Clarke Oduor having each left Elland Road for Barnsley this year.
