Trevor Sinclair wants West Ham United to sign Javier Hernandez

West Ham United reportedly wanted Bayer Leverkusen’s Javier Hernandez in the summer transfer window, but so do Tottenham Hotspur.

Trevor Sinclair suggested on BBC Sport’s Facebook live (July 14, 2017) that West Ham United should sign Javier Hernandez from Bayer Leverkusen this summer.

West Ham have been linked with a move for Bayer striker Hernandez in the summer transfer window.

According to The Sun on Sunday (print edition, page 63, July 16, 2017), the Hammers have spoken to representatives of the former Manchester United striker.

It has been reported that West Ham manager Slaven Bilic has made the 29-year-old his number one transfer target this summer after pulling out of the race to sign Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud.

Hernandez’s representatives and the Hammers have spoken over a transfer, according to the report, which claims that the 29-year-old would earn £145,000 per week as salary at the London Stadium.

Former West Ham winger Sinclair believes that the ex-Guadalajara star would be a good signing for the Hammer.

“For me, I would like to see them go for Chicharito, Javier Hernandez from Bayer Leverkusen,” Sinclair told BBC Sport’s Facebook live (July 14, 2017). “Scored nearly 80 goals in the last three seasons for big clubs, Real Madrid and Bayer Leverkusen.

“He should be the one they are going for. 29, proven, got the quality, definitely a fox in the box. If they could get him, I would be delighted for West Ham.”

Could Tottenham Hotspur gazump West Ham United?

West Ham seem to be facing competition in the race for Hernandez from Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

The Mirror has reported that Spurs are “stalking negotiations and could yet deprive the Irons of yet another of their targets following the loss of Olivier Giroud”.

Tottenham need to sign a striker in the summer transfer window in order to provide Harry Kane with back-up and some support.
