Trevor Sinclair has said on talkSPORT (9:57am, May 31, 2021) that Leeds United are a bigger club than Newcastle United.
The former Manchester City and West Ham United winger has said that Newcastle are a big club, but he thinks that Leeds are bigger.
Sinclair said on talkSPORT (9:57am, May 31, 2021): “I think historically you would say Leeds. I think they have had a fantastic season. You just look at them in the 60s what they achieved as a football club, you would say Leeds, but Newcastle are a huge football club in their own right.”
Leeds fans will say that they are a bigger club, and you can bet that Newcastle supporters will disagree.
The Whites have been the English champions on three occasions and finished runners-up five times.
Leeds have also won the FA Cup once.
Newcastle have been the champions of England four times, but their last title was way back in 1927.
Leeds won the old First Division title in 1992.
The Magpies have won the FA Cup six times and also clinched the inter-Cities Fairs Cup in 1969.
Leeds won the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup in 1968 and 1971, and finished runners-up in the European Cup in 1975 and the UEFA Cup Winners Cup in 1973.
Newcastle get more fans at their stadium, but that’s because it can hold over 50,000 supporters.
Leeds’s Elland Road can host just over 37,000 fans.
