Newcastle United suffered another defeat in the Premier League as Brendan Rodgers high-flying Leicester City walked away with all three points on Sunday.

Trevor Sinclair has claimed that Dennis Praet ‘bottled it’ during his challenge with Isaac Hayden which resulted in the Newcastle player being sent off.

Leicester City were winning the game 1-0 when midfielder Hayden was shown a straight red for his studs-up challenge on Praet – the Foxes would go on to win the game 5-0.

Referee Craig Pawson made the decision, with VAR backing his on-field call, and captain Jamaal Lascelles then escorting his surprised teammate off the field.

During the game, former Premier League player Sinclair was fuming at the decision to send Hayden off, as he sent these messages from his personal Twitter account.

Hayden did protest the red card decision but after the referee made his mind up, the defensive-minded midfielder had to walk.

Newcastle would have had their work cut out in this game as it is, but it was made even more difficult when Rodgers side had that extra man advantage.

The Foxes are currently sitting in the Premier League’s top-four and they are chasing European football, whilst their Sunday opponents are struggling in the relegation zone.

It’s a pretty damaging defeat for Steve Bruce, who will be hoping his team can bounce back when they take on Manchester United next Sunday at St James’ Park.
