The former West Ham midfielder heaped praise on the 28-year-old after a 2-0 win over the Reds.

Trevor Sinclair took to Twitter to praise West Ham United playmaker Dimitri Payet on Saturday afternoon, suggesting he was the Irons’ man of the match against Liverpool despite only playing for half an hour.

Payet made his return from injury and was able to showcase his traditional trickery during the closing stages of his side’s 2-0 win over Jurgen Klopp’s men.

What a result for West Ham at Upton Park. But the fact the Hammers already triumphed 3-0 at Liverpool earlier this season makes this win rather ordinary!

The Reds struggled with fatigue but West Ham doing the double over them this term – for this first time since the early 1960s – suggests they could simply be a superior team to the Anfield outfit right now.

As Sinclair says, Payet impressed late on. But so did Michail Antonio (could he finally be coming good?), James Collins and many others.

Manuel Lanzini’s injury is a blow yet Saturday was another memorable day for West Ham. A great way to start 2016 and there seems no sign of things getting any worse now that the Hammers are out of their dry spell.
