Trevor Sinclair congratulated QPR on Twitter and stated it’s ‘about time’ they progressed through to the next round of the FA Cup after beating Leeds United 2-1 on Sunday afternoon at Loftus Road.

Steve McClaren’s side opened the scoring from the penalty spot with youngster Aramide Oteh showing composure by beating goalkeeper Bailey Peacock-Farrell.

The away side didn’t take too long to respond with Aapo Halme equalising two minutes later, with both teams going into the break level on scores.

In a game where a number of youngsters were given an opportunity to showcase their ability, it was the experience of Jake Bidwell that secured the R’s passage through to the fourth round of the FA Cup.

After the match, former Loftus Road favourite Sinclair expressed his delight in QPR putting their name into the hat for the next round as posted on his personal Twitter account.

Leeds will turn their attention to the Championship now after bowing out of the FA Cup early, whilst McClaren’s side will be hoping to continue their positive run of results.

The Whites top the table in the second tier of English football, two points ahead of second-placed Norwich and a further four points ahead of third-placed Sheffield United.

For QPR, after losing their first four games of the season, they are four points outside of the Championship’s top six as McClaren will be hoping to mastermind an unlikely playoff finish.
