Jack Grealish played a big role in Aston Villa’s opener.

Trevor Sinclair has praised the quick-thinking of Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish.

Aston Villa kick-started their Premier League season with a 2-0 win over Everton in the West Midlands last night.

Wesley opened the scoring for Dean Smith’s side, but the Brazilian striker owes a lot of thanks to Grealish.

The Villa midfielder took a quick free kick in what eventually led to Wesley firing past Jordan Pickford.

It wasn’t an obvious moment in the game, but BBC pundit Sinclair caught it and shone a spotlight on it on Twitter.

What a turnaround it’s been for Grealish in recent years.

The 23-year-old has of course played Premier League football before, but prior to Aston Villa’s relegation in 2016 he was making headlines for the wrong reasons – and not too infrequently, either.

But now captain, Grealish looks so much more mature and could be seen rallying the players in the tunnel before the restart last night.
