The Tottenham Hotspur product stole the show for the Young Lions on Sunday.
Trevor Sinclair has told BBC Sport that he was “really impressed” with Josh Onomah in England Under-20’s World Cup final win on Sunday.
The Young Lions won the competition with a 1-0 victory over Venezuela in South Korea.
Everton’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin was the hero with a 35th-minute winner, but it’s the Tottenham lad who people can’t stop raving about.
The 20-year-old posted a mature performance in central midfield, whereas he has often been used in a wide role for Tottenham.
And Sinclair claims that almost everything about the youngster – speed, strength, end product and passing ability – has impressed him in a big way.
“He’s looked a man against boys at times. He looks so strong, so physical,” he told BBC Sport.
“His awareness and his change of direction with the ball and his passing ability, you know sometimes you’re talking about getting in uncomfortable positions and players panic, but he doesn’t.
“He just holds them off, he knows how strong he is and his end product has been superb. I’ve been really impressed with his performance.”
The Spurs academy product was also hugely unlucky not to find net after watching his 30-yard effort rattle the crossbar with what might have been goal of the tournament.
It will be interesting to see how Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino manages him next season, whether he keeps him in the first team or loans him out.
