Retired former England footballer and Celtic fan Trevor Sinclair has lauded the club’s supporters in the wake of Brendan Rodgers’ appointment as manager.

Former Liverpool boss Rodgers has signed a 12-month rolling contract to succeed Ronny Deila, who left the Scottish champions at the end of the season.
The Northern Irishman, 43, has already told the media he is well aware of the size of the club he is taking on having been a supporter ‘all his life’, as reported by BBC Sport.
Rodgers has been tasked with extending Celtic’s run of five domestic league titles and making progress in the Champions League.

Rodgers targets stayway fans
But Rodgers has told BBC Sport his first priority is to get stayaway supporters excited again and filling Celtic Park.
His appointment certainly seems to have done that and has stirred things up nicely north of the border ahead of a new campaign.
And former West Ham United and Manchester City star Sinclair, a big Celtic fan, has praised his fellow supporters for the way they have welcomed the new man in charge after thousands flocked to his unveiling.

“Superb show of support from the fans at Paradise for Brendan Rodgers, hail hail,” Sinclair said on Twitter.

Rangers have already proved they mean business next season with the signing of experienced midfielder Joey Barton, as reported by the club’s official website.
Mark Warburton will be keen to cause an upset on the club’s return to the SPL while Rodgers will be under pressure to put the brakes on the Gers’ recent rise and rise.
