West Ham icon Trevor Sinclair has made a bold on-pitch prediction for his former club while talking to talkSPORT.

TalkSPORT quote the ex-Hammer as saying: ‘I said prior to the Newcastle game it was a must-win. If you look at their fixture list, Arsenal they’ve lost, they’ve got Wolves next, Leicester, Spurs, Manchester City, Liverpool.

‘I’m not trying to make this a drama, but their first points may be earned on November 7th against Fulham.’

Sinclair makes a very good point.

We must admit that West Ham weren’t bad in their 2-1 defeat to Arsenal, but their fixture list is extremely daunting and could leave them in a perilous position.

Let’s put Sinclair’s prediction into context.

The Fulham game will be matchday eight of this Premier League campaign for West Ham.

After eight matches last season, the Premier League live table shows Bournemouth had 11 points and Norwich had six – both sides were relegated.

So, if Sinclair thinks West Ham will be sat on just three points after matchday eight, then that simply doesn’t bode well given those two sides had far more points.

The third relegated side from last term, Watford, had three points after game-week eight, so their fate is perhaps akin to what Sinclair thinks the Irons will suffer.

The east Londoners would only have themselves to blame if that happened.

David Gold and David Sullivan have sat and watched rivals such as Crystal Palace bring in Michy Batshuayi and Eberechi Eze.

Other relegation rivals such as Newcastle and Aston Villa have also spent big, bringing Callum Wilson and Ollie Watkins into their respective squads.

West Ham need all the help they can get with that fearsome fixture list, and such assistance could be found in the market – they can’t waste any more time to sign reinforcements.
