Conor Gallagher helped Chelsea end the season on a high following a 2-1 win over Bournemouth on Sunday.

It wasn’t so long ago that fans were worried that the team might not even finish in Europe.

Yet, fast forward to the present, and the under-fire Mauricio Pochettino has guided Chelsea to a sixth-placed finish and a possible spot in next season’s Europa League.

If Manchester City, who won their fourth Premier League title in a row, beat Manchester United in the FA Cup final, then it’s Europa League for the London club, if not, it’s a spot in the Conference League.

Either way, Conor Gallagher will want to lead his team out next season and back into Europe as they bid to return to the elite.

But will the England international actually be at Stamford Bridge? Sources have told HITC that the powers that be at Chelsea are yet to be convinced to hand him a new deal.

Gallagher’s current contract expires in 2025, so he either signs a new contract or the club sells him off in the summer.

The player himself isn’t allowing that to distract him and he was all smiles at the full-time whistle against Bournemouth, as he posted on Instagram.

He posted a video of his dad celebrating on the pitch, with the words ‘you have no idea how much this means to my old man’.

As you can imagine, in the comments section of Gallagher’s IG post, fans were urging him to stay and hoping that he isn’t sold.

Trevoh Chalobah probably had the most telling of comments because he simply wrote ‘Blue blood’.

Conor Gallagher reacts to Chelsea’s season finale

“You have no idea how much this means to my old man! Thank you all for the support this season. Brilliant way to finish it off,” wrote Gallagher.

Chelsea should keep Conor Gallagher

What is interesting here is that if Gallagher is sold, then it’s obvious that the powers that be are making the calls and not Pochettino.

The all-action midfielder was the only Chelsea player to have played 50 games this term.

Pochettino has made it clear what he thinks of him and now it’s time for those calling the shots to offer him a contract and keep him at the club.

Even during Chelsea’s most difficult of times, he is loyal to the cause and desperate to get them back challenging near the top.

He is also reliable and durable. Given the injuries suffered at Stamford Bridge this season, that is very much needed for the next campaign.
