Liverpool are set for a busy summer transfer window, and if reports are to be believed, the Reds could break their transfer record in the near future.
Indeed, Darwin Nunez is being touted for an £85m move to Anfield, and as you can imagine, there is a sense of real anticipation on Merseyside.
The idea of signing a player for £85m is very exciting, and while fans are gearing up for a huge announcement, there is one Liverpool player who will surely be rubbing his hands together at the prospect of playing alongside Nunez.
Of course, we’re talking about Trent Alexander-Arnold.
The full-back is already one of the greatest creative forces in the Premier League, but if Nunez is added to this team, he could reach another level.
Indeed, while Alexander-Arnold’s crosses are deadly, he’s never truly had a target man to aim at during his time at Liverpool, but the addition of the 6ft 2 Nunez would change that dynamic.
We’ve seen what Alexander-Arnold can do when providing balls to the likes of Diogo Jota and Sadio Mane, two players that stand well below 6ft, but now, he’ll be able to pick out Nunez, who, due to his stature and strength, should be more of an aerial threat.
Of course, there is more to being an aerial threat than just being big, but Nunez seems to have perfected the art of heading too, netting no fewer than six headers this season.
To provide some context, the most headed goals scored by a player in the Premier League last season was four, with Jota, Harry Kane and Danny Welbeck notching up four a piece.
With Alexander-Arnold providing the service, Nunez’s output in the air should only increase, and with a target man to now aim at, Alexander-Arnold should be able to take his assist tally to yet another new level.
