Liverpool have received a major blow today as right back Trent Alexander-Arnold has suffered a knee injury, and will be out for four weeks, as noted by The Guardian.

The Reds beat Brighton and Hove Albion 1-0 on Saturday afternoon thanks to Mohamed Salah’s goal, but there is bad news coming from the game.

Alexander-Arnold picked up an injury in the warm-up before the game, but played the full 90 minutes, which now appears to have been a bad idea.

The 20-year-old will now miss around a month of action, and that’s the worst possible news for Liverpool given their existing injuries.

Dejan Lovren, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip are all injured at centre back, which has forced Fabinho to play as a centre back.

Fabinho could play at right back, or even James Milner, but with Georginio Wijnaldum injured too, midfield options aren’t exactly great either.

The news of Alexander-Arnold’s injury comes at a terrible time, as Liverpool are in a title battle with Manchester City, but have also just loaned out Nathaniel Clyne.

Sending an experienced right back on loan to Bournemouth with so many defensive injuries already seemed bizarre, and fans have been taking to Twitter to criticise Jurgen Klopp’s decision.

Some have called it ‘baffling’, ‘ridiculous’, ‘dumb’ and ‘stupid’, believing Klopp has taken an unnecessary risk by loaning Clyne out, when he would be needed now in light of Alexander-Arnold’s injury.
