Speaking on his YouTube channel, Rio Ferdinand has named Liverpool’s Alisson Becker as the goalkeeper in his Team of the Season.
Alisson has been absolutely tremendous this term. His ability in one-on-one situations has single-handedly won the Reds a number of points, and his distribution remains one of his best attributes.
Ferdinand has been blown away by the Brazilian’s form this term, describing him as ‘tremendous’.

“I’m going to go with Alisson this year. He has been tremendous, in big moments he steps up, he’s a great goalkeeper. He does everything a modern goalkeeper should, he’s good with his feet, and he comes out with massive saves importantly,” Ferdinand said.
Most important player
For all of the praise Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold get, Alisson may well have been Liverpool’s most important player this season.
Vital saves against West Ham, Crystal Palace and Manchester City have won Liverpool some incredibly important points, and if the Reds are to win their second Premier League title, they will have a lot to thank Alisson for.
There are some fantastic goalkeepers in the Premier League, but when it comes to the Team of the Season this time around, it’s almost impossible to look past Liverpool’s number one.
Alisson has been a star and he deserves all of the plaudits he’s been receiving.
