Darren Bent has suggested that Arsenal may be lacking the firepower to win at Watford on Sunday afternoon.

Arsenal visit the relegation-threatened Hornets tomorrow.

The Gunners bring a three-match winning streak to Vicarage Road and spirits are high after their dramatic, come-from-behind victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers last week.

Mikel Arteta’s troops netted twice in the final 15 minutes – including a 95th-minute winner – to see off Bruno Lage’s outfit at the Emirates Stadium.

All three of their recent victories have only been by a one-goal margin, however, and Alexandre Lacazette’s form isn’t helping.

The French striker, who is Arsenal’s captain now following Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s departure, has only netted three Premier League goals all season.

And although Bent is a fan of Lacazette as a role model and leader, as a striker he feels he could come up short.

He told Premier League Productions: “They’d be expected to be winning the game. I’m not holding my breath. Yeah maybe [could be frustrating]. Have they got the firepower to shoot themselves out of it? Lacazette’s been brilliant as a leader and a role model to the younger players. As a captain he’s been tremendous, but one thing about him he doesn’t score enough goals.”

Should Arsenal keep Lacazette?

In a word, no.

The former Lyon hitman is out of contract in North London this summer and honestly, he doesn’t deserve a new contract.

There’s no doubt that he’s respected within the dressing room, but that isn’t enough to earn an extension if your goalscoring is woeful.

Lacazette cost Arsenal £46 million in 2017 and therefore the Londoners are set for another major loss on their initial investment, but it’s time for new blood.
