Tottenham’s Eric Dier featured in England’s World Cup qualifier against Slovenia.

Eric Dier may be a Tottenham Hotspur fan favourite – but he is yet to win over the admiration of rival supporters
And while that is common of many top players, for the really great footballers there is still a grudging respect from opposition fans which simply is not present with regard to Dier.
Dier started for England in central midfield against Slovenia last night in a drab World Cup qualifier which was low on excitement or quality.

When Dier burst into the England side ahead of Euro 2016 he was an impressive performer and chipped in with goals against Germany and Russia in the tournament.
Last night he did not manage a shot at goal provide create a single key pass, and while he chipped in with tackles and interceptions, on the ball he did not offer enough against a side which England have shown repeatedly before they have the beating of.
The partnership with Jordan Henderson did not offer nearly enough, and England need to find a better combination, whichever one of them is dropped.
As usual Harry Kane popped up in the final minute to score a winner, and spare the Three Lions’ blushes.
Here is a look at how fans reacted to his performance last night for Gareth Southgate’s Three Lions…
