Here are five players Leeds United should target in 2015

Leeds United need a big 2016 if they are to finish in the play-off places, but so far there are encouraging signs.

Under new boss Steve Evans they have risen from 19th place to 12th, and are six games unbeaten.

New signings are likely whether they be permanent or loan deals from Premier League sides.

Here are five players they could or should target…

Kyle Lafferty

Kyle Lafferty is the most likely player to join Leeds in January. The Northern Ireland international needs game time ahead of Euro 2016, but has been a reserve for Norwich City this season. At Leeds he could link up with winger Stuart Dallas, and has been interacting with fans on Twitter, teasing a potential switch.

Patrick Roberts

Manchester City splashed out to sign Patrick Roberts from Fulham in the summer, but predictably the England youth international has barely had a look in. Capable of playing up front or on the wing, landing Roberts on loan would be a real coup for a Championship side, and he needs regular game time to aid his progression.

Peter Crouch

Leeds have enquired over the possibility of signing Stoke City forward Peter Crouch, the Yorkshire Evening Post has reported. Crouch is 34 and needs to play regularly, which he has not been doing at Stoke this season. In the past two years he has reached double figures for Premier League goals, and could be a superb signing if Steve Evans can pull it off.

Yohan Benalouane

Leicester City signed Yohan Benalouane from Italian side Atalanta in the summer, but the Swiss defender has barely had a look in. The centre-back could yet have a role to play for the Foxes, but Leeds would be smart to enquire about the possibility of bringing in the Tunisian so they can strengthen a key area.

Jason Cummings

Hibernian striker Jason Cummings has been in prolific form in Scotland, attracting interest of several Championship clubs. The Scotsman reported that Leeds are one of these sides, but they will be hoping for a bigger impact than their last signing from north of the border, with summer addition Lee Erwin failing to make an impact so far.
