Manchester United, Arsenal, Newcastle United, Manchester City, Liverpool, Wolves, and Stoke City are the talk of the papers today.

Both Arsenal and Manchester United are ready to step up their pursuit of Celtic midfielder Victor Wanyama report the Mail. The Kenyan powerhouse was previously linked with Manchester City and is rated at £7 million. He is only 21 and Celtic fans firmly believe the player has the ability to reach the top of the world game. The paper add that QPR are interested too, and both United and Arsenal will have scouts in the ground when he features in the club’s Champions League qualifier tonight, however should he feature he would risk being cup tied in the competition.
The same paper also links Arsenal with PSG defender Mamadou Sakho, who is also interesting Newcastle United and Liverpool. The Frenchman, 22, is the club captain but has fallen out of favour under Carlo Ancelotti and the arrival of Thiago Silva exacerbates that. He is reported to have been told he can leave the club, with Lille and AC Milan also interested. If Arsenal were to swoop they would have to offload Squillaci or Djourou first.
The Mirror report that Manchester City are switching their attentions to Gonzalo Higuain, a day after being linked with Edinson Cavani. Reports on CIty’s striking situation are a tad schizophrenic, one minute it is reported they can’t afford Van Persie because they can’t shift players off their wage bill, the next they are being linked with Europe’s best. Higuain would cost £35 million and link up with compatriots Aguero and Tevez in attack. Tottenham and Chelsea are also interested.
Liverpool are being linked with a former Everton midfielder, Manuel Fernandes. The tough tackling star is currently with Turkish side Besiktas, but seeking a way out of the club. Earlier this summer it was reported he could be allowed to leave for free, but Besiktas who were in financial trouble have now acted to end that possibility. The Mirror claim he would cost £7 million and that Brendan Rodgers is weighing up a bid.
Stoke City have been quiet this transfer window, but the Sun are reported they have made a bid for Wolves winger Michael Kightly. The bid is said to be in the region of £2 million, although Wolves are reluctant to lose the player. The paper add that Stoke may seek to sweeten the deal by offering defender Danny Higginbotham in part exchange.
