Liverpool, Manchester City, Arsenal, Swansea City, Manchester United, and Chelsea are the talk of the papers today.

All the rumour, gossip, and news you need to know from the last 24 hours

Brendan Rodgers is set to leave Swansea for Liverpool, and he is ready to incur the wrath of Swans fans by bringing Gylfi Sigurdsson with him, report the Mail. The Icelandic midfielder was a revelation on loan at the Liberty last season, and the Swans were ready to tie up a £7.8 million deal for him. While personal terms have been agreed, a medical has not been completed, and there is still time for Liverpool to hijack the deal. Kenny Dalglish was keen on signing him before his dismissal, going to scout him personally. He’d be a good fit an Anfield, with goals from midfield lacking over the last season.

Sigurdsson to Liverpool?

The Mirror reports a double dose of transfer news for Manchester City fans, beginning with Edin Dzeko‘s potential departure. The Bosnian striker is wanted by Bayern Munich who are ready to big bid for the player City paid £27 million for. This in turn would lead to City continuing their pursuit of Arsenal captain and Premier League top scorer Robin van Persie. The paper report that City are preparing for forthcoming Financial Fair Play regulations, and selling before buying is a preference in this case.

Van Persie to City?

Luka Modric to Manchester United claim the Star, with a report that the Red Devils are preparing a £30 million offer. Whether this would be enough to tempt Tottenham into a sale is unclear, with the North London club keen to keep the Croatian. Chelsea, Manchester City, and Real Madrid have all been linked previously, and Spurs would hope to get a bidding war going. This might rule United out, as £30 million is likely as high as they could afford to go before turning to other targets.

Arsenal‘s chase for a new striker switches from Fernando Llorente, to Olivier Giroud, to Seydou Doumbia today. Every day this week the club have been linked with a new face and it is becoming increasingly tricky to see the wood from the trees. Seydou Doumbia plays in Russia for CSKA Moscow, and has previously been linked with a move to Chelsea. The 24-year-old Ivory Coast international scored an incredible 38 goals last season and he is being valued at around £26 million, although the Mail report that Arsenal will attempt to knock down the price.

Doumbia to Arsenal?

Crewe Alexandra whizkid Nick Powell is a target for Manchester United, but reports today reveal that Chelsea are seeking to rival the reds for his signature. The 18-year-old is valued between £4 million and £6 million, and it is clear after his superb goal in the League Two play-off final he won’t be playing for Crewe for much longer. Arsenal have also previously been linked, but there are no concrete offers from either club to report.
