Manchester United starlet Paul Pogba has been linked with a move to Chelsea in today’s papers.
Pogba is considered as a future midfield star at Old Trafford, but his contract expires in 18 months time.
The Frenchman is reported to be frustrated at a lack of first team opportunities despite United’s midfield injury problems, being overlooked for veterans Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes.
To lose Pogba to rivals Chelsea would be galling for United, and reminiscent of the John Obi Mikel saga, although we feel United probably dodged a bullet with that one.
The Mirror report that Stoke City‘s Matthew Upson is considering his future at the club.
Upson signed in the summer from West Ham but has found himself rotated, with competition for places among centre-backs fairly intense at the Britannia.
The report links no clubs specifically, but we wonder if Tottenham or Newcastle, both who need centre-backs, may test the waters with a deadline day bid.
The same paper also report that Sunderland are eyeing a shock move for Bolton striker Kevin Davies.
Davies has struggled for form the past 12 months and has typified Bolton’s frustrating season.
Perhaps a move may be what he needs. The report mentions the fee could be as little as £1.5 million for the 34-year-old.
Blackburn Rovers defender Christopher Samba is in the headlines this morning, as he steps up his campaign to leave the club.
He says he will be ‘unable to give 100 per cent’ while he remains at the club.
He has been linked with moves to PSG and QPR previously, but it remains to be seen whether Blackburn will hold firm which could cause him to disrupt their recent good form.
The Mail reports that Tottenham are in talks with Brazilian under-20 captain Bruno Uvini.
The paper reports that Arsenal and Genoa have been monitoring his progress, but a loan deal to White Hart Lane could be scuppered by work permit problems.
